For a lot of enthusiasts about water sports he still is THE idol: windsurfing legend Robby Naish. He has been world champion 24 times, for the first time at the age of 13 years and thus became the youngest world champion ever. He is considered as the pioneer of windsurfing and played a substantial role in the development of technical innovations, e.g. shorter boards, the observation window or the windsurfing harness.
The 51-year-old, who speaks German fluently, is now a successful businessman marketing equipment for stand-up, paddling, kiting and windsurfing. Naish is an exceptional talent – reason enough for the project planners GP JOULE to present him as their new brand ambassador. “Robby Naish is a man believing in the connection between nature and technology out of conviction, striving for quality and perfection and relying on success by natural energy in his business”, explains Ove Petersen, managing director of GP JOULE. “As Robby Naish does in windsurfing, we are relying on natural force by generating wind and solar power for the everyday energy supply.” The company with its headquarters in Reußenköge in Schleswig-Holstein among others builds wind and solar parks in Germany, Europe and Northern Amercia and develops innovative storage technologies. Our vision: an energy supply based on 100 percent renewable energies.
As a sponsor of the WindsurfWorld Cup 2013 at Sylt, GP JOULE got in contact with Naish and it was immediately clear: the wavelength is the same. Both companies rely on sustainability and responsible use of natural resources. And both share the passion for the power of nature. “There is nothing better in the world and no more magnificent experience of nature than feeling the power of waves and wind”, says Robby Naish who still stands up on the water every day. The 51-year-old calls his exceptional career as a great adventure. “Winning the world championship was fantastic. For me, the competition has always been essential. Now I like sports in another way, without the stress and pressure of former times”. Robby Naish will of course take part in this year’s Windsurf Worldcup Sylt and keep his fingers crossed for the young surfers. Before that event, we will participate in the WindEnergy fair in Hamburg where Robby Naish will sign autographs at the GP JOULE booth.
